The DAT 420 ATEX Toxic Gas and Oxygen detector is intended for monitoring gas concentration levels in commercial or industrial buildings. The DAT 420 is suitable for use in hazardous areas and explosive atmospheres.

The DAT 420 is an electrochemical gas detector intended to work in conjunction with a compatible data logger to detect any presence of gas or to measure the level of oxygen in the ambient air. The DAT 420 ATEX is a Toxic Gas and Oxygen detector whose measure range corresponds to the full scale measurement value (PPM, % v/v), i.e. the highest gas concentration that can be measured. The relationship between the “Lower Explosive Limit Percentage (% LEL) and “Volume Percentage” (% v/v) varies from one gas to another (see Standard IEC 60079-20-1).

The DAT 420 uses an electrochemical sensor whose signal is converted by the 4-20 mA transmitter into an electrical signal whose intensity varies from 4 to 20 mA in accordance with the concentration of gas or oxygen in the air. This signal is then transmitted to the data logger. The list of most important detectable gases are carbon monoxide CO, nitrogen monoxide NO, oxygen O₂, ammonia NH₃, chlorine CL₂, nitrogen dioxide NO₂, sulphur dioxide SO₂ or hydrogen sulphide H₂S (this list is not exhaustive).

The DAT 420 ATEX comes with explosion proof (d) aluminium metal housing, is dust and water proof (the whole system has an explosion-proof type of protection and an IP6X rating), an Ex-certified metal cable gland, an explosion-proof jacketed sensor head (d), a sintered metal filter and a two-position terminal block for electrical connections. The explosion-proof casing is a stainless steel assembly (base, body and cover) that can be disassembled to allow for the replacement of the sintered metal cell or filter.

The DAT 420 is intended for commercial and industrial buildings. The operating temperature range is from -10°C to +40°C. This product is suitable for use in zone 1 & 2 explosive gas atmospheres and zones 21 & 22 explosive dust atmospheres (see specifications). The DAT 420 detector is ATEX certified and is particularly suitable for industrial applications in explosive atmospheres.

ATEX marking: II 2G Ex db IIC T6 Gb & II 2D Ex tb IIIC T85°C Db

ATEX certificate: FTZU 09 ATEX 0074X
